What’s been happening in the BlogNetworkosphere over the passed 3 or 4 weeks

by Robb Dunewood on November 9, 2005

A lot has happened in the world of blog networks during our little hiatus so we thought it would only be appropriate to re-cap the ‘goings on’ with blog networks over the passed three weeks or so.

Right around the time of our last post back in mid October, Martin Neumann, the guy who got this whole blognetworkwatching thing going, decided to relaunch BlogNetworkWatch.com after deciding to shut it down two weeks earlier only after a week after it’s initial launch.

The end of the third week of October was kind of slow, however, Darren Rowse of ProBlogger fame and b5media co-founder became very ill. His few day absence from blogging caused such a disruption in the force, that it threatened to take out the Internet across the entire continent of Austrailia. (You will have to excuse the cheesy references to Star Wars as I have just watched Episode III)

Things in the BlogNetworkosphere were still kind of slow the last week of October. 9rules announced that it was going to update to version 2 of their website. b5meida added four new blogs to it’s network on Halloween.

News really started to pick up in November. Creative Weblogging completed an undisclosed amount of first round financing from angel investors. Just hours later Jason Calacanis calls the folks over at Creative Weblogging ‘a bunch of thieves‘ for allegedly stealing html code from Weblogs Inc. I don’t know if they stole code or not, however, Creative Weblogging’s new site design looks an awful lot like Weblogs Inc.

The biggest news this month has to be the merger of About Weblogs with b5media that we blogged just a few days ago. Lastly, BlogNetworkWatch.com has closed it’s doors again. That’s right BlogNetworkWatch opened it’s doors, closed them a week later, opened them back again, and has now closed them again.

I think that this just just about bring us up to date.

Makes me look a little crazy ha! – opening, shutting, then opening … and then the final shut ;-)

I guess you can see it two ways: a true serial entrepreneur who jumps in a minute to an idea, tries it out, tests it, works or doesn’t work and moves on or …. a sloppy dolt who doesn’t know what he’s doing or wants or how to get there. Take your pick ;-)

I guess with my “It’s Over” post I’ve probably burnt some bridges, but so be it.

Good luck with your watching.

Martin,

I know how you feel. I have had websites that I have launched, re-launched, shut down and re-opened more times that I would care to admit.

Thanks Robb,

Hope it all works out well for you – keep at it, it’ll take some time and sure enough you’ll be the “go to” man for the industry.

I’ve placed a link at my blog to you – wasn’t too hard, simply changed the .com to .net ;-)

This is a great site for my research and development. Keep the news coming.

And then to complicate things, we purchase blognetworkwatch from Martin and re-start where he left off ;-)

Matt
