Blog Nework Definition: Revisited

Edit this to add a ad unit in the content body.

One of the first posts here on BlogNetworkWatch.net was about the definition of a blog network. It was based on a post from Martin Neumann where he asked the question “What is a blog network?” At the time I liked Paul Scrivens from 9rules answer because it was short, sweet, and pretty much all inclusive. He said that a blog network was simply a “collection of blogs under the same banner”.

We are revisiting our blog network definition because I am beginning to wonder if is a bit too inclusive. Does a blogger that has 2 or 3 blogs that are all linked to each other constitute a blog network? Do we need to qualify by saying a collection of blogs by multiple bloggers under the same banner?

What is your definition of a blog network?

Multiple authors writing under a corporate banner - or multiple blogs under a corporate banner. that’s my “loose” defintion.

For blognetworklist though, it’s generally whatever I say it is. But as time has shown through the comments, etc.. I’ve been reasonably flexible about this.

I think Matt’s definition probably covers it best. Apart from numbers, though, the professionality of the package, and the quality of the writing, should be the determining factors of whether it’s including in any list, or not.

I know it is not always the case, but it seems most networks also offer the aggregation of advertising across the network to one single point of contact, instead of having to negotiate with each individual blog.

p.s. We hope you will add our business blog network to your list.
