Omar Al-Hajjar from webbymedia wrote a 5 step process on How to Start a Blog Network. Because it is late and I am too tired to come up with my own list I have decided to just comment on Omar’s list.
My comments won’t make much sense unless you read Omar’s post first.
1. Branding is the “in” thing to do these days. You may sacrifice a bit of Google juice in the early goings, however, 9rules or b5media just sound better than kitchenapplicanblognetwork.
2. Like DreamHost or BlueHost…
3. Note to Self: Ask Omar who can create a good template for $250 bucks.
4. You can hardly call your collection of blogs a network if you don’t have a gadget blog member.
5. This is the only item that I don’t totally agree with. Not to say that you cannot be successful flipping blogs or blog networks, most generally will not be. Unless you are just lucky, it takes many months of good writing before a blog is popular enough to sell for a profit. If you are only blogging or creating a blog network with the hope that someone will buy it, chances are you will become boredwith it before you have near enough quality content for the network to be worth anything.

About a month or so ago, BlogNetworkWatch.com was bought by Blog Media Inc. and relaunched. Around the same time they bought BlogNetWorkList and have recently launched the 2.0 version. What Blog Media Inc. is doing here is very cool because they have automated the BlogNetworkList ranking order by scriptomatically grabbing information from various sources such Technorati, Google, Yahoo, and Alexa.
There is more than one way to skin a cat and BlogNetworkList gives you more than one way rank a blog network. You can sort based on various factors such as number of member blogs, number of backlinks, average Technorati’s ranking, and more.
Well done guys…

BlogNetworkWatch got a sneak peak of the new iFroggy Network design which just went live a few days ago. I must say that this is not too shabby for what is mostly a one man shop. We will have to keep an eye on iFroggy Network.

The iFroggy Network is taking their collection of blogs and community sites to the next level with a complete overhaul of the iFroggy.com homepage. We were lucky enough to get an exclusive sneak peak of the new design.
We are not sure of when the new iFroggy homepage will be unveiled but we let you know as soon as we find out anything more.

Bloglogic.net, for the most part, was a one man blog network run by long time blogger Paul Short. Through no fault of his own, Bloglogic and about 30 of it’s member blogs were completely wiped out by Paul’s former hosting company. It looks like Bloglogic’s hosting company went out of business and didn’t give any warning or advanced notice before wiping thousands of hours of hard work clean off the Internet.
Unfortunately, Paul didn’t have his network backed up outside of his hosting company who was supposed to take care of that for him and was paid to do so through the end of the year. Because everything was lost and there is no way to recover, Bloglogic as we knew it is no more.

So, BlogNetworkWatch.com, has been sold and is back online. To recap:
- BlogNetworkWatch.com was launched
- BlogNetworkWatch.com was shut down one week after the launch
- BlogNetworkWatch.net was launched (I think that not choosing a unique domain name was a mistake by the way) to fill the void of the one week blog, BlogNetworkwatch.com
- BlogNetworkWatch.com was relaunched a couple of weeks later (this is the reason that I think naming this site BlogNetworkWatch.net was a a mistake)
- BlogNetworkWatch.com was shutdown for the second time
- BlogNetoworkWatch.com was sold and relauched for what is now the third time (Did I already say that naming this site BlogNetworkWatch.net was a bad idea?

One of the more popular blog networks out there, 9rules network, just went through a 24 hour submittal process for it’s third round of blogs to be added to the network. I just want to say that Scrivs, the founder of 9rules, is very good at creating blog networks and and coming up with ideas to make his network stand out, however, he would make an absolutely horrible carnival weight guesses as his estimation skills are less than desirable.
For the fourth time in a row, Scrivs has grossly underestimated the amount of submissions to 9 rules. Over 500 bloggers submitted their blogs hoping to get an email back stating that they have been accepted into 9rules. Lets put this into perspective. Most bloggers, would love to get 500 page views a day on their blog. 9rules had 500 plus bloggers submit there blogs to its network in just one day. Scrivs and the folks over at 9rules are definitely doing something right.

Chris Garrett from Perfomancing, has written a pretty good post on the the pros and cons of joining a blog network. Although the downsides section is just a tad longer than the upsides, it is definatly worth the read, especially for the novice blogger that may be looking to join a blog network.

Looks like there is another blog network about to launch. It is called Freshdaily and touts itself as being ‘Canada’s first national blog netowrk.”
So far there are only 4 member blogs that are all regional blogs for various cities in Canada. We will have to wait and see what is more to come.
